What's New?

We have been treated to a magnificent bottle of balsamic vinegar thanks to Rondi and Patrick. This is the sort of substance that befits our Monday Night Dinners best. We used to just throw this stuff around - salad dressings, making tie-dye T-shirts, washing windows, etc. But now we know better...

We use this bottle only to drizzle artfully over sliced fresh fruit and ice cream. It is dangerous, as I have gained a kilo since this tiny bottle of vinegar arrived in my home.

But you can easily see how happy it makes us. Look at Deb's smile, unrehearsed. Heather, eat your heart out because you are missing these dinners!

In other news, I read a novel! This is amazing, as I usually don't care enough about the characters in a novel to finish one. But I loved The Kite Runner and cried (noisily and unattractively, not like the movie stars).

More amazingly, we had visits from friends and relatives this summer. Since hardly anybody ever comes to Sudbury, this was a startling pleasure. We could show off Sudbury tourist attractions like the Miner's Memorial in Bell Park.

For example, recently we had the pleasure of the company of Murray and Tineke, our daughter-in-law Di's parents. Tineke even matches our livingroom walls. Di's zebra painting is in the background.
